The Contrapunt nameplate joins Cultura 03 and prepares for the launch of the weekly in Badalona
Mollet’s free weekly, which turned six years old today, is preparing to update its nameplate and increase its circulation up to 15,000 copies.

Contrapunt is the only free newspaper with the distinction of winning the Tasis-Torrent award for the best local journalistic publication in Catalonia, awarded in 2006 by the Barcelona Council.

Contrapunt, publisher of the leading Baix Vallès free weekly, has become a part of the cooperative group Cultura 03. Its membership contributes to the growth of the group and to the expansion of its business areas to include press publishing. The executive council of Cultura 03 approved Contrapunt’s membership in March and today the weekly made it public in its pages on its sixth anniversary. As a member of the group, Contrapunt starts the process of renewing the Mollet nameplate and is preparing to launch a free weekly in Badalona in the coming months with an initial circulation of 30,000 copies. The weekly Contrapunt, which was founded on the 27th of April 2001, is currently distributed in Mollet, Sant Fost, Parets, Martorelles and Santa María. In the second half of 2007, the paper plans to increase its circulation from 10,000 to 15,000 copies, giving it the highest number of copies distributed by any private initiative publication in the Baix Vallès region. From the start, and with a strong effect on its area of influence, Contrapunt has received several different prizes that attest to the diligence and professionalism of the weekly: it is the only free newspaper that has the distinction of being awarded the Tasis-Torrent award for the best local journalistic publication in Catalonia. Along with joining Cultura 03, Contrapunt is also bringing out a corporate website, www.contrapunt.cat, which in coming months will be strengthened with the addition of new contents on current events, a preliminary step to the future creation of an electronic newspaper.
