Time Out Barcelona hits the newsstands today as the city’s most comprehensive culture and leisure magazine
> Every Thursday Sàpiens Publicacions of Grup Cultura 03 will publish the new branch of the prestigious international magazine brand born in London 40 years ago. > Toni Puntí leads a team of 50 professionals who are one hundred percent devoted to generating exclusive content to publicise activities all over the city. As of today, Time Out Barcelona will hit the newsstands every Thursday to become the culture and leisure time magazine of reference. Published by Sàpiens Publicacions of Grup Cultura 03 with the backing of an international brand launched in London 40 years ago, Time Out Barcelona has made its debut with an initial circulation of 40,000 copies and a launch price of one euro. The first issue of the magazine was introduced today at midday at a press conference held at the Santa Caterina Market in the presence of the editor of the publication, Toni Puntí, the founder of Time Out London, Tony Elliott, and the director of Sàpiens Publicacions, Francesc Navarro. Puntí explained that the challenge of Time Out Barcelona is, “experiencing the city and the culture it generates without hang-ups” with the goal of allowing Barcelonans to discover “the dynamic city that they never imagined they had.” With this purpose in mind, the magazine’s writers track down all the cultural and leisure time activities in the city every week in order to offer readers all “the most innovative ideas, the most suggestive offers, and the most independent critiques with their own guide” so they can fully experience the city, seven days a week. The creator of the Time Out name, Tony Elliott, wanted to highlight independence as a “genuine” trait of a publication that aims “not only to explain what’s going on, but to make things really happen, the magazine provokes movement.” For Elliott, the success of Time Out stems from being able to work with “independent experts who know exactly what they’re talking about, about what they think.” From Sàpiens Publicacions, Francesc Navarro also wanted to point out the great “commitment” that the publishing house and Grup Cultura 03 has made in bringing the licence to Barcelona. Under the direction of Toni Puntí, Time Out Barcelona is made up of more than 50 professionals, the largest team devoted exclusively to publicising the complete guide to cultural and leisure activities in the city from new points of view, as well as of distinguished contributors such as Manuel Cuyàs, Patrícia Gabancho, Agustí Fancelli, Francesc Miralles, Jaume Figueras, Ernest Folch, Albert Puig, América Sánchez, Javier Blánquez, Joana Hurtado Matheu and Marina Espasa, among others. Thoroughness and independence are the basic mainstays of a publication that seeks to give readers a new and critical view of everything this cultural capital has to offer. Puntí adds that it is a magazine that “suggests, gives ideas without obligating or imposing but that aims to create a singular thematic guide far removed from interferences and commercial interests.” >> www.timeout.cat |
