The Association of Periodical Publications in Catalan (APPEC, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, awarded Sàpiens Publicacionsyesterday with the prize for best publishing house of 2007 “for having successfully committed to quality magazines in Catalan and for showing that there is a market spanning in the entire region of the Països Catalans.”
The manager of Sàpiens Publicacions, Francesc Navarro, and the editor of the magazine Sàpiens, Jordi Creus, received the award yesterday at the IX Nit de les Revistes in la Llotja de Mar in Barcelona. This year the panel of judges for the awards also recognised the writer and journalist Josep Maria Espinàs “for his on-going collaboration with the Catalan press,” as well as the magazines El Tatano and Mètode. The judges granted the 2007 extraordinary award to the presence of Catalan culture at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
