DESCOBRIR CATALUNYA
Summary
March 2008
HIGHLIGHTS
MONTSERRAT

The mountain of Montserrat has an unmistakeable profile. But beyond its quite well-known silhouette there lies a unique natural park and paths that wind through spectacular spots in search of chapels built at altitudes of over 1,000 metres. We move beyond Montserrat’s skyline and get to know the mountain from the inside: we travel to the roots of the massif’s spirituality, take a look into the lives of monks, and talk about the construction of the new organ.
AND
Springtime blossoms
Flowers are blooming in an explosion of smells and colours that spatter the countryside all across the Països Catalans. From the coastal dunes to the highest peaks, the flowers are putting on a spectacular display.

Windmills of Campos
Linked to the landscape since the last century, windmills allowed water to be brought up for crops and transformed the plains of Majorca. We have a look at the most rural island through their blades.

Agullana
A thriving cork industry brought prosperity to this village in the Alt Empordà, which still retains the modernist and cosmopolitan airs of its age of splendour.

48 hours in Xàtiva
We suggest a complete weekend through a city filled with history and with an exceptional culinary heritage.

Landscape in movement
Good weather floods Valencian orchards with the fragrance of orange blossoms.

Through other eyes
The unusual detail of the bark of a cypress after a rainy day.

Footprints
We talk to Ramon Llurba, a survivor of life, who’s seen half the world as a crewman aboard different ships.

Green earth
A grouse seeks a mate in the black pine forests of the High Pyrenees.

Routes
On foot through the Arnes straits in Terra Alta; on bike through Sant Martí de Veri in the Ribagorça region; with kids through Montcau and La Mola in the Vallès Occidental area.
